Avoiding systemic problems in Court based Domestic Disputes

Parents agree on one child specialist to report back to them what the child needs. All the financial information goes to a trained financial specialist who gives a report not favoring either side, just presenting the realities of choices available and consequences. No competing experts, no public record, no need to parade all the dirt accumulated through the marriage before the judge, none of the wasted money sitting and waiting on repeated rule dockets, none of the hallmarks of today’s divorce.

All these people are expensive, right? NO! The lawyers are the most expensive players so why have them trying to calculate the income stream or budget to support two homes. The coach on the mental health side can handle the emotional demands in less time at a lower rate than the lawyer. We delegate the problems to those best suited to solve them. Since no one can go to court there is a freedom to exchange information, waive confidentiality between the disciplines and collaborate with the clients to empower them to resolve their own issues. Everyone retains their dignity and communication skills are learned to allow controlled exchange of information.

There are two different emerging models. One is simply the lawyers agreeing to do everything and only call in specialists as they deem necessary. The other starts interdisciplinary with mental health and financial professionals being involved from the
